PHE guidance on use of antiviral agents for the treatment and prophylaxis of seasonal influenza

Best practice
Abstract:
Neuraminidase inhibitors (herein referred to as antivirals) are just one aspect of a comprehensive approach to prevent severe influenza-related illness and death, which also includes annual seasonal influenza vaccination and the use of infection prevention and control practices (1). This Public Health England (PHE) guidance recommends the targeted use of antiviral medicines for specific circumstances and groups of patients. Antivirals are currently recommended by a number of organisations including the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) and ECDC (2), for the treatment and prophylaxis of seasonal influenza
