Oral health improvement programmes commissioned by local authorities
Best practice
Abstract:
Local authorities have statutory duties for oral health improvement and dental public
health conferred through The Health and Social Care Act (2012). In order to support
local authorities in this new role, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence
and Public Health England have published guidance and toolkits.
This stocktake,
undertaken in 2017, shows for the first time the oral health improvement interventions
targeting 0-5 year-olds, currently commissioned by local authorities in England. This
information can be used by local authorities to compare themselves against the
national picture and will enable targeted support
